Which Chevrolet SUVs Have Third-Row Seating?

November 30th, 2020 by

Are you shopping for a new Chevrolet SUV and have a large family? You’re going to want to focus on SUVs with third-row seating that will give you the added space and flexibility your growing family needs. At United Chevrolet Buick GMC, we can help you find the perfect Chevrolet SUV with third-row seating. Our goal is to make car shopping fun again.

Chevrolet Traverse

The Chevrolet Traverse is a midsize SUV with a government five-star safety rating. The Chevrolet Traverse interior has the Smart Slide second-row seating, hands-free power liftgate, split-folding seats, and optional power-folding third row. The Smart Slide second-row seating provides quick access to the third row when you are getting kids in and out of the SUV.

Traverse has best-in-class cargo volume with 98.2 cubic feet and an optional hands-free power liftgate to make loading a breeze. There’s also a hidden storage compartment in the rear cargo floor and behind the digital infotainment screen.

The Traverse also offers numerous safety features, which are important when you are looking for a vehicle to transport your family. A rear-vision camera is standard on the Traverse. Other available safety features  include:Â

  • Forward collision alert.
  • Front pedestrian braking.
  • Automatic emergency braking.
  • Lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
  • Rear cross-traffic alert.
  • Lane change alert with side blind zone alert.
  • Rear park assist.

The Chevrolet Traverse comes in six different trim packages, starting with the L and moving up to the High Country. You can seat up to eight passengers with the L and LS packages. Seating for eight is available on the LT with a second-row bench seat. Otherwise, the RS, Premier, and High Country seat seven passengers.

Chevrolet Tahoe

If you’re looking for a larger SUV, the Chevrolet Tahoe is one of two full-size SUVs offering third-row seating. You can fit up to nine passengers in the Tahoe, and it has a max cargo space of 122.9 cubic feet.

The Chevrolet Tahoe interior has seating for up to eight or nine passengers, depending on the model you choose. There are six different Tahoe trim packages, starting with the LS to the High Country. The Premier model seats up to eight, while an available front-row split-bench seat on the LS will allow you to seat nine passengers.

To ensure everyone has plenty of room, the Tahoe’s third-row has been enhanced, giving passengers 40% more legroom than the prior generation Tahoe. To keep everyone in the back entertained, consider the new rear-seat media system with a pair of 12.6-inch diagonal LCD touch screens, each of which can display their own content. You can share content between screens too.

If you need an SUV that is capable of hauling a lot of cargo, the Tahoe is versatile. You can power-fold the third-row seats and take advantage of additional storage space. To store smaller items, utilize the hidden lockable storage compartment.

Standard safety features on the Tahoe include:

  • Automatic emergency braking.
  • Forward collision alert.
  • Front pedestrian braking.
  • Following distance indicator.
  • Intellibeam auto high beams.

Available safety features include:

  • Adaptive cruise control.
  • Lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
  • Rear cross-traffic alert.
  • HD surround vision.
  • Safety alert seat.
  • Lane change alert with side blind zone alert.
  • OnStar.

The Chevrolet Tahoe is ideal for families looking for a third-row seating SUV with ample cargo space, plenty of safety features, and seating for up to eight or nine passengers.

Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban is also a full-size SUV with third-row seating. It has more cargo space than the Traverse or Tahoe, with 121.7 cubic feet. There are 39.3 cubic feet behind the third-row seating, so you don’t need to worry about having enough space for your family and all their belongings on your next road trip.

There are six Suburban trim packages to choose from, starting with the LS and going up to the High Country. The Suburban Premier model seats up to eight passengers. If you want seating for nine, it’s available on the LS models with an available front-row split-bench seat.

Like the Tahoe, the newest model Chevrolet Suburban has more legroom for third-row passengers and a more comfortable chair height. It also offers best-in-class second-row legroom, so everyone is sure to be comfortable on a long ride.

Standard safety features and available options are the same on the Tahoe and Suburban.

The Chevrolet Suburban interior includes an optional rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-ray playback. There are screens in both the second and third rows of the vehicle, plus 14 available charging locations in the Suburban. Screens can display independent content or be shared. Road trips will never be the same again.

Does the New Chevy Blazer Have Third-Row Seating?

One of the most common questions we receive is whether the new Chevy Blazer has third-row seating as well. For now, the new Blazer with third-row seating is only available in China, which fills the void since other third-row seating SUVs, like the Traverse, are not sold there. It doesn’t appear that Chevrolet has any plans to bring this special model Blazer here to the U.S., at least for now.

The newest Chevy Blazer only seats five passengers and features a split-folding seat 60/40 in the second row. It also has less cargo space than the Traverse, with a max volume of 64.2 cubic feet.
